For the Chocolate Mousse:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
For the Whipped Cream:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Parfait Assembly:
  • Chocolate cookies or brownie crumbles
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles
  • Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Chocolate Mousse:
In a heatproof bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave. Set aside to cool slightly.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Slowly pour the hot cream over the melted chocolate, stirring continuously until smooth.
Gradually whisk the chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture until well combined. Allow the chocolate mousse to cool to room temperature.
In another bowl, whip the remaining cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until smooth and well incorporated. Refrigerate the chocolate mousse for at least 2 hours or until set.
2. Prepare the Whipped Cream:
In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Transfer the whipped cream to a piping bag fitted with a star tip for a decorative touch.
3. Assemble the Parfait Cups:
Choose small dessert cups or glasses for assembling the parfaits. Begin by placing a layer of chocolate mousse at the bottom of each cup.
Add a layer of chocolate cookie or brownie crumbles over the chocolate mousse.
Pipe a layer of whipped cream over the crumbles, creating a visually appealing pattern.
Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the cup, finishing with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
4. Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle chocolate shavings or sprinkles over the whipped cream for an extra touch of decadence.
Garnish each parfait cup with fresh berries, arranging them on top for a burst of color and freshness.
Serve the Chocolate Mini Dessert Parfait Cups immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
