OLD-FASHIONED PANCAKES |
INGREDIENTS
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/4 cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: additional butter or oil for greasing the pan
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well incorporated.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough pancakes.
- Let the batter rest for about 5 minutes to allow the baking powder to activate and the mixture to slightly thicken.
- Preheat a non-stick griddle or a large skillet over medium heat. If desired, lightly grease the cooking surface with butter or oil.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, and the edges appear set, usually about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the pancake with a spatula and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown on the other side.
- Remove the cooked pancakes from the griddle and keep them warm while repeating the process with the remaining batter.
- Serve the pancakes warm with your choice of toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate chips.
Enjoy your homemade old-fashioned pancakes! They are perfect for a leisurely breakfast or brunch.
